Ophthalmology Institute specialized in eye surgery: cataracts surgery, myopia and presbyopia, with Ophthalmology Clinic located in Bilbao and Getxo (Vizcaya, Spain).
Myopia is associated with poor distance vision and requires the use of eyeglasses or contact lenses. It is due to poor focus of the image on the retina. Sometimes it is combined with astigmatism, which is mainly caused by irregularity of the cornea. It can be corrected by laser surgery or intraocular lenses, but a complete ophthalmological revision is required.
Presbyopia is the inability to focus up close from age of 40 and older and this defect generally progresses until age of 55. This forces to adjust the lenses or eyeglasses as we have different graduation for far and near vision. Make an appointment with the ophthalmologist Dr. Rodríguez-Ratón and find out about the best treatments for presbyopia, personalized advice.
Cataracts worsen vision at all distances due to the darkening of the crystalline lens, a lens that we have inside the eye since we were born. The objective of the crystalline lens is to vary the focus at close distance, which is also lost after the ages of 40. At the Rodríguez-Ratón Ophthalmological Institute, we are specialists in the surgery of cataracts with intraocular lenses implantation that restore the focus at various distances simultaneously.
Glaucoma is a degenerative disease of the optic nerve where vision is irreversibly lost. It is related to high ocular tension and a family history, so we recommend a complete revision from the age of 40. In our Ophthalmological Clinics in Bilbao and Getxo, with a few simple tests, we can do a complete check-up and personally advise you.
